Anthony Joseph Mendonca

Anthony Mendonca, age 79, of Brighton Heights, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday,  March 16, 2021.  Born in Modesto, CA to the late Frank and Evelyn Mendonca.  Preceded in death by brothers Frank, Jr., Ernest, and Larry Mendonca.  Husband to the late Barbara Houck Mendonca. Survived by son Justin Anthony Mendonca.  Anthony received his BA from UC Berkeley and MA from the University of Pittsburgh.  He served in the Peace Corps in Brazil.   He was a Retired professor of Sociology and Anthropology at CCAC where he founded the Global Issues Forum and created a class on Globalization.  He had a lifelong passion for learning.  He was a loving father and will be dearly  missed.

A  Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, June 12, 2021, at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., 3552 California Ave. at Davis Ave., Pittsburgh, PA   15212.  He will be laid to rest at Allegheny County Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
