Age 60, father, grandfather, son, brother, Fire captain, Navy veteran, neighbor and friend... suddenly on August 28, 2016, David was called back to the Heavens. David loved fishing, hunting, his retirement from the City of Pittsburgh Fire Department, music and he also loved his family and friends both in Pittsburgh and Jamestown, PA. David, son of Virginia "Ginny" Sovyak and the late Harry, was their blessed first child. David is survived by his loving mother, "Ginny", sons, Ben (Fontaine) Sovyak, Harrison Sovyak and only daughter, Samantha (Brandon) Sovyak. David deeply loved his only grandchild, Roman Sovyak, of Ben and Fontaine. David's greatest moment was when Roman recently said "Pap Pap". He loved the smiles, hugs and wonders of being a grandfather. David had lived a full life doing what he loved with the woman he adored, Margie Hutchings of Waterloo, NY and his constant companion, Llewelleyn Setter "Micah". David is survived by his children, grandson, sisters, Gail Lehman and Donna (Sovyak) Holko; uncle to Michael and Matthew, Kevin (April), Daniel and Gabriel. David was loved by many, and lived by the rules of nature, never taking more than he needed and giving back whatever he could. David was a gentle and kind soul who loved his family, often cooking meals for family and friends from the bounty of the earth. David will be sadly missed by those who loved him and called him friend, and especially by his kids.
