Dolores Jean Marciniak, a beloved mother, sister & Nana passed away on October 1, 2023, at the age of 74. She was surrounded by her loved ones in the comfort of her daughter's home. Dee lived an extraordinary life filled with accomplishments, cherished memories, and a vibrant personality that left an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Born on November 2, 1948, Dee grew up with loving parents, the late Stanley and Nelda Marciniak. From a young age, it was clear that Dee possessed a unique spirit. She fearlessly spoke her mind and stood up for what she believed in. This fiery determination extended to her career as a Civil Engineering Technician with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
During her time with the Corps of Engineers, Dee showcased exceptional talent and dedication to her work. Her unwavering commitment earned her the prestigious Commander's Award for Civilian Service and the distinction of being named LRD Outstanding Technician. Dee's contribution to the field of civil engineering will forever inspire others in their pursuit of excellence.
Beyond her professional achievements, Dee was a loving and devoted mother to her children: Andrea (Tim) Kunsak, Francisco "Chico" (Tara) Rodrigues , and the late Renee J. Rodrigues. Nana to Timothy II, Isabella, Anthony, Alaina, Anna, Corinne & Brooks. She took great pride in their accomplishments and treasured each moment spent together as a family. Dee provided love, support, and guidance to her loved ones through thick and thin.
Being a Nana brought immeasurable joy to Dee's life. Her late grandson Matthew Thomas Kunsak held a special place in her heart. Dee cherished the role of being his Nana.
Dee leaves behind a rich legacy that includes her siblings Sandy Marciniak, Rick (Mary) Marciniak, Cindy (Greg) Swab, Mark Marciniak, and Stan (Colleen) Marciniak. Her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends will forever hold her memory close to their hearts.
Outside of work and family life, Dee had several passions that brought her happiness. She had a creative flair and expressed herself through ceramics & cake decorating. Furthermore, she was known for her cooking and baking, particularly her famous nut rolls, enchiladas and homemade salsa. Dee's talent in the kitchen brought joy to family gatherings and never failed to impress family and friends.
Dee had a charismatic personality that drew people towards her. She was one of a kind, leaving an impression on everyone she crossed paths with. Her boldness in expressing herself paired with a compassionate heart made Dee a truly exceptional individual. Her memory will forever live on through the fond recollections shared by all those who had the privilege of knowing her.
Visitation services for Dee will take place on Tuesday October 3, 2023 from 2:00 PM to 8:00 PM, at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., located at 3552 California Ave., Pittsburgh, PA, 15212.
On October 4, 2023, at 10:00 AM, a service will be held at Christ Our Savior Parish, St. Cyril of Alexandria Church (3854 Brighton Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15212). Following this service, there will be an interment ceremony at St. Stanislaus Cemetery (700 Soose Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15209) starting at 11:15 AM.
