John E. Blasdell

John E. Blasdell, age 75, on Thursday, February 25, 2021, passed on to be with our Heavenly Father.  Born in New Castle, PA, son of the late Myrtle M. and Lewis H. Blasdell; also preceded in death by his grandfather, John (Agnes) Conn; brother of Jennifer (Johnny) Fanugao of Pensacola, FL; nephews and niece John C. (Wendy) Zimmerman of Pensacola, FL, David M. (Brittany) Fanugao of Milton, FL, Connie (Brad) Futral of Pensacola,FL; and ten great-nieces and nephews; longtime friend of John "Jack" Oberleitner of Dayton, OH and Helen Pyptyk of Pittsburgh, PA.  John was a graduate of New Castle Senior High School.  He was active in several business and civic organizations in New Castle and Beaver Valley.  He was the owner and operator of Mister Softee ice cream business with a fleet of several trucks.  He was a radio broadcast personality on several Western PA  radio stations, including WPIC AM/FM in Sharon, PA.  In his senior years he also drove a taxi cab in the greater Pittsburgh area.  Visitation Thursday 12 Noon  until 1:00 pm with a Blessing to follow at 1:00 pm at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., 3552 California Ave. at Davis Ave., Pittsburgh, PA   15212.  In lieu o flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Parkinson's Foundation of Western PA, 575 Lincoln Ave., Suite 101, Bellevue, PA   15202 or to the family via the funeral home, to help defray costs.
