Mary (Kost) Sahayda

Mary (Kost) Sahayda.  God called home the precious soul of Mary Sahayda on Thursday, April 1, 2021 at the age of 103.  Born June 17, 1917, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Barna) Kost of Woods Run; loving wife of her late husband, Michael Sahayda, to whom she was married for 57 years.  Preceded in death by her brothers, Michael and John Kost and sisters, Ella Parks, Dorothy Hanasik, Helen Metz Petrancosta, Ann Tovcimak and son-in-law James T. Smith;  beloved mother of Marlene "Mimi" Smith and Michael "Jamie" (Linda) Sahayda; loving grandmother "Nan" to Michael J. Smith, Nova Marie Smith, Michael and Matthew Sahayda; also "Nan" to Cynthia Cancilla and the late Kathleen Smith.  Mary leaves behind many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.  With special gratitude to her niece, Nancy Pivirotto for her continued devotion.  Strong in her faith, Mary was a lifelong member of Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church and also attended St. George Ukrainian Church.  Mary was a kind and loving soul and will be dearly missed by her family and friends.  Donations may be made to Little Sisters of the Poor, 1028 Benton Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA   15212 where Mary was cared for by all the staff with an abundance of love and compassion.  Friends received Tuesday 2-6 pm at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., 3552 California Ave.  at Davis Ave.  Parastas 3:00 pm Tuesday.  Paschal Funeral Divine Liturgy will be held Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in Holy Ghost Byzantine Catholic Church.
