Mitchell J. Balant

Mitchell J. Balant, age 87, of Pittsburgh, died peacefully, surrounded by family, on Friday, July 29, 2022. Loving father of LaVon (Jeff) Waldenmyer, Lorraine (Larry) Vales, and Eileen (Shawn) Lundy.  Proud Pap Pap to Thomas Cochran, Heather Wilson, Jeff Waldenmyer, Brandy Vales, Dean Vales, Jacob Lundy and Shane Lundy.  Mitch is also survived by multiple great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Claire Balant, nephew Mark Balant, niece Lisa (Glenn) and great-nieces and nephews, and former wife Carole (Reidenbaugh) Balant.  Mitch served in the U.S.A.F. during the Korean War.  He was a huge fan of the Boston Red Sox, the Pittsburgh Pirates and Classic T.V.  Former Laborer at Midland and Ross Steel, Mitch greeted everyone with a friendly wave and a warm smile.  FRIENDS AND FAMILY  will be received at the Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home, Inc., 3552 California Avenue at Davis Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA   15212, on Sunday, July 31, 2022 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm and 6:00 -8:00 pm.  PRIVATE FUNERAL SERVICES MONDAY, August 1st FOR IMMEDIATE FAMILY.  Interment will be at Allegheny Memorial Park.  In Lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society, Western Region, 320 Bilmar Drive, Pittsburgh, PA   15205-4620, in Mitchell's honor.
