Aunt Mary told me a story about the day my mother was born. She and my Uncle John sat in front of the fireplace in their home in Woods Run putting on their leggings. Their father came from the bedroom and said, "Come and see the new baby." Olga had arrived on that cold January day.
On March 29, 2015, at age 94, my sweet mother was called toher heavenly home. She will surely be greeted with open arms by the mother and father she worshipped, Andrew and Anna Potoczny, and by her sisters, Margaret Micinski and Mary Walper, and brothers, Andy and John Potoczny.
Mom worked tirelessly for years in her parents' Woods Run grocery store, Steel City Market. A meat cutter extraordinaire! Later, she displayed her unselfish charity as a 10-year volunteer for Meals on Wheels. When my father became ill and was confined to a nursing home, her bus trips to spend time with him became her mission in life. The home she cherished for 75 years, complete with her pampered flowers and tomato plants, was a source of happiness, fulfillment, and pride.
Also, loved as aunt and godmother to many nieces and nephews, she was a strong link in our family chain, blessing us and all her neighbors and friends, with generosity, kindness, and thoughtfulness.
We thank the extraordinary caregivers and staff at New Hope Assisted Living in Avalon for all the love and tenderness they showed my mother during her four month stay.
As her proud and grateful daughter and son in law, Eileen and Glenn Kidd, we are comforted to know how blessed each day has been to have her at our side, not only as devoted mother, but fierce protector, nurturer, and role model. Although we will dearly miss her daily presence here on earth, we know that she will forever watchover us. May God bless you and keep you in His care, Mom.
