Theodore H. "Ted" Szoch, Jr., 83, od Pittsburgh,a hero in human form, died Saturday, January 2, 2021, due to complications from Covid-19. Born in New Kensington, he was the son of the late Theodore Szoch, Sr. and Wanda Kielbas Szoch. Ted graduated from Arnold High School and worked for Allegheny Ludlum Steel as a roll turner until founding the Exercise & Health Aide Company, later Exercise Equipment Inc. Ted was an extremely strong advocate of fitness and health and his small business was built on his desire for people to lead long and healthy lives. Ted loved to laugh and sing. He was optimistic, honest honorable, kind, selfless, gentle and had a formidable strength of mind, body and soul - he had a presence that was larger than life and never met a stranger. A man of great and powerful faith, Ted lived his life in service to God - his greatest satisfaction was helping others. He was deeply devoted to his family and was a humanitarian, good Samaritan and friend to all. Ted was the husband and soul mate of the late Jean Confer Szoch; and was the father of Cheryl, Nancy and Lily (Karen); grandfather of Rachel, Nick and Avery; and brother of Helen (Scoochie Remo (Connie), Lorraine Smith, Charlie (Arlene) Szoch and Louise (Rick) Steinhauser. He was also a much-loved uncle, cousin, friend and mentor. Those who knew him are devastated to know that without him in it, the world will never be the same again. If asked what we should do during this difficult time, he would have said, "Make peace with the Lord," and to pray and exercise. Services and interment will be private due to Covid-19. A celebration of his life will be held at later date. Arrangements are by Thomas P. Kunsak Funeral Home,Inc. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Ted's memory to Heifer International (Heifer.org) or to hospice. Remembrances may be left at www.kunsakfh.com.
